What is technical specification registration, and is it mandatory?

Following the expiry of the Cabinet of Ministers’ Decree on ‘Standardisation and Certification’, the registration of technical specifications with the Ukrainian Technical Specifications Fund is no longer a strictly mandatory procedure under the law. Today, this process is overseen by the state-owned enterprise ‘Ukrmetrteststandard’, and the service itself is provided on a voluntary basis.

Requirements for the formatting and updating of the Ukrainian Technical Standards database

In order for the technical specifications to be successfully registered, the documents must be drawn up in strict accordance with the requirements SOU KZPS 74.9-02568182-003 (‘Technical Regulations of Ukraine. Guidelines on the standard structure, presentation, formatting, designation, adoption and entry into force’).

Important: Once technical specifications have been adopted, they must be reviewed regularly to ensure they remain up to date. The necessary changes should be made at regular intervals, but at least once every five years. If this condition is not met, the technical specifications may be automatically removed from the official database.
